March - Podcast & New Home Base

I hope everyone is doing well and staying safe during this very bizarre time we're living in right now. I don't know about you, but this wasn't quite the way I imagined kicking off spring. Instead of putting cabin fever behind us, we're ramping it up again due to this coronavirus pandemic. When the smoke clears, though, I think we'll all be ready for some time out on the water, and that's what's keeping me going.

I wanted to let you all know that Bloemendaal Guide Service has a more fixed home now on Lake Sakakawea. We will be based in Garrison, ND, likely welcome news to those coming from the south as it's a bit shorter trip from that direction. Garrison is a great little town with some great places to stay including North Shore Inn & Suites and Indian Hills Resort just west of town. There are also restaurants, a grocery store, gas, bait, North Country Marine and Motor, and a handful of lake access spots. It's also going to be the host location for the Cabela's National Walleye Tour Championship this coming September. We are looking forward to a great fishing season based out of Garrison this year!

Of course, we'll still fish wherever on the lake we need to go to get the best bite, anywhere from the dam up to Four Bears Bridge and beyond. And we'll still be equipped to make the occasional run to Devils Lake for those that want to experience that fishery as well.

This past weekend I was fortunate enough to be a guest on Crash Davis Outdoors radio show podcast. We talked about the guide service, walleye fishing in general, Lake Sakakawea, and even some great ways to eat your catch. I hope you'll give it a listen while you're settled in and taking care of your family. Click on the link here:

I do truly hope you're staying safe and healthy, and I look forward to fishing with as many of you as possible once everyone feels comfortable traveling and exploring again.
